In august of 2026, this LEGO misprint sold on the public market for a record-breaking five thousand (5,000) US dollars. At least, that's how it appears. This was my misprint and here's the real story.

I acquired this set, a brand new 7255 general grievous chase, in 2024 when scrolling eBay. After verifying the authenticity, I immediately purchased it. This one-of-a-kind box shift error was something I had never seen before. As a hardcore misprint collector, i very rarely see items that shock me, yet this was one. The print had completely spilled over onto the wrong sides, some sections were even left blank. I will refrain from showing the original purchase price, though It was a rather safe buy.

This item quickly became the staple of my collection, garnering numerous likes, comments, shares, followers, and various sorts of social media attention. There were numerous high profile collectors and influencers that had considered purchasing, though my asking price was slightly high for their liking. The sticker price of 5,000, or 4,999.50 to be exact, wasn't my minimum however. Since eBay doesn't show the prices of accepted offers, the only way to know is for me to share, which I will. This box sold for 3,000 USD to a buyer who wishes not to be named. This sale is approximately 800% of the mean sale price for the sealed set itself, giving the box misprint an 8x evaluation.

According to public records, this sale is the most expensive LEGO® misprint ever sold. Whether or not an item more expensive has sold between collectors, who's to say, yet the record stands for now. My hope with this sale is that more of these super rare items may be discovered. This copy still remains the only one I have ever seen, yet I'm sure there exist other box misprints waiting to be found. If you happen to have one of these and you'd like to share, please send in an entry!
